Iranian President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with visiting Minister of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and the Azeri head of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commision.
The Iranian president expressed satisfaction with the improvement of ties between the two countries in the past two years, calling for intensifying efforts to bring Tehran-Baku relations to their proper position.
Rouhani highlighted the significance of North-South Transport Corridor in strengthening relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, adding the two countries would also expand cooperation on oil and energy.
“Tehran-Baku joint investment in the Caspian Sea can serve as a good beginning for the two countries’ other joint investments in oil and gas projects,” said Rouhani.
The Azeri minister of economy, for his part, welcomed Iran’s nuclear agreement with the 5+1, saying the accord would benefit regional and global peace and stability.
Mustafayev further added that his country is determined to further expand its relations with the Islamic Republic in various fields including energy, trade, transportation, industry, agriculture, oil and banking.
The Azeri economic delegation arrived in Tehran on Monday at the invitation of Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi.
